308 Engine

The engine of the Peugeot 308 is a Turbocharged Inline-4 with a cubic capacity of 1598 CC. Engine is a roar with the 218 bhp along with a torque of 207 lb-ft that is packed into it. The Diesel Engine for the Peugeot 308 is supplied by the famous Robert Bosch GmbH. The Peugeot 308’s Prototype Engine was displayed at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in 2007.
The Peugeot 308 comes with 6 gear manual transmission and the maximum speed of 235 km/h is attained in its sixth gear and it takes only 7.0 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. The in-gear acceleration is impressive taking only 7.5 seconds to speed up from 80-120 km/h in 5th gear. The new series of the Peugeot is known to reduce fuel consumption by 58% in the Urban Drive Cycle compared to a standard 308 HDi. The fuel consumption is very reasonable with 6.7 liters per100 km in the combined cycle.
The introduction of the new HDi DPFS technology of the model is in accordance with the spirit of the car, emitting just 90g/km of CO2 thus reducing harmful emissions.

The innovative folding rear seats split two thirds / one third and, when folded, form a continuous flat load area which can accommodate a variety of leisure equipment up to an overall length of 1.70 m and provides a total volume of 1,433 litres.

The 207 SW Outdoor will be available with three engine options, two HDi diesels, 1.6 litre 90 bhp and 1.6 litre 110 bhp with a diesel particle filter system (DPFS) and one petrol engine, a 1.6 litre VTi* 120 bhp engine.

All the engines will be fitted with a manual five speed gearbox with ratios selected to match the individual engine characteristics.

Peugeot 308 RCZ review

Peugeot announces prices and details for the new 308 SW

  • On sale June 2008
  • Improved modularity
  • Powered by eight engine options
  • Four trim levels - S, SR, Sport and SE
  • Range starts from £14,395 on-the-road
Peugeot's new 308 SW builds on the strengths of its predecessor the 307 SW and develops them even further. For example, the panoramic glass roof is now 27% larger, the modularity is easier to operate and improved and there is now a new six-speed manual gearbox.

It will be available in four trim levels S, SR, Sport and SE and will replace the 307 SW and 307 Estate range of vehicles, when it is launched in June 2008. The S and SR versions will differ from the Sport and SE versions by the fitment of a steel roof panel and a folding split rear bench seat, instead of individual removable seats and a Cielo panoramic glass roof as found on the Sport and SE versions.

At launch the 308 SW will be available with eight engine options, five petrol engines and three HDi diesel engines.

Petrol engines
  • 1.4 litre VTi 95 bhp 5-speed manual gearbox
  • 1.6 litre VTi 120 bhp 5-speed manual gearbox & 4-speed automatic
  • 1.6 litre THP 140 bhp 4-speed automatic gearbox
  • 1.6 litre THP 150 bhp 6-speed manual gearbox
  • 1.6 litre THP 175 bhp 6-speed manual gearbox
HDi Diesel engines
  • 1.6 litre HDi 90 bhp 5-speed manual gearbox
  • 1.6 litre HDi 110 bhp 6-speed manual gearbox
  • 2.0 litre HDi 136 bhp 6-speed manual gearbox & 6-speed automatic
All engines meet the current Euro 4 emission standards and both the HDi 110 and HDi 136 diesel engines are fitted with a diesel particulate filter system (FAP).

Sharing the same wheelbase as the 307 SW, but with an increased length of 72 mm and width of 117 mm with the mirrors folded, the 308 SW provides more interior and luggage space than the outgoing model. To improve the 308 SW's dynamic performance the width of both the front and rear tracks have been increased as well as the rigidity of the body.

Standard equipment on all models includes: power steering, driver airbag, passenger airbag, side airbags, curtain airbags, remote control central locking with deadlocks, electric front windows, steering column adjustable for reach and rake, radio / single CD player, passenger / driver seat height adjustment, ABS with EBFD and EBA, trip computer, front fog-lights, body coloured door mirrors and door handles, air-conditioning...

The S and SR models both have a steel roof panel instead of a Cielo panoramic glass roof, a split rear folding bench seat, a 20 litre under floor storage area in the rear load area and a "classic" front grille design.

The SR version adds: 16" alloy wheels, Bluetooth hands free kit, storage pack (rear seat centre armrest with storage) and SMARTNav, to the standard specification of the S version.

The Sport version adds to the specification of the S version: three second row individual and removable seats, a Cielo panoramic glass roof, 17" alloy wheels, 'Sports' front grille, radio / CD with diversity + MP3 compatibility, opening rear tailgate glass, steering column airbag, front centre armrest, leather steering wheel, electric rear windows, ESP and cruise control.

The SE version then adds, compared to the Sport version: 16" alloy wheels, dual zone air-conditioning, two third row individual and removable seats, Visibility Pack (automatic headlamps and wipers), electro-chrome rear view mirror, electric folding door mirrors, Comfort Pack (front seat lumbar support and armrest), Ambiance Pack (fragrance diffuser, ambient lighting), dark tinted rear windows and tyre pressure sensors.

On the road prices from £14395.00

The new Peugeot 3008 Crossover

The 3008 is based on Peugeot's short wheelbase platform 2, which was chosen due to its exceptional rigidity and excellent acoustic and vibration properties.

The 3008 structure has been carefully designed to provide maximum secondary safety as well as provide a structure with the same level of rigidity of that of a saloon. To reduce emissions and, therefore fuel consumption and running costs, the weight of the vehicle was kept to a minimum.

To help reduce the vehicle's weight, laser welding was used instead of normal spot welding, the front overhang was kept to a minimum by the introduction of an innovative new type of impact absorber, a number of light weight materials were used and the thickness of the panoramic glass roof has also reduced to just 5 mm, while still retaining the same levels of safety as current roofs fitted to the 308 SW etc.

Hybrid 4 Technology

This name describes the hybridisation of a traditional engine with an electric motor, in an original layout in engineering terms that also allows the possibility of four wheel drive.

While the traditional engine is located as usual under the bonnet and drives the front wheels, the electric motor is located under the load area floor adjacent to the rear suspension. This technology not only represents a real breakthrough in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions (a reduction of around 35%), but also in terms of four wheel drive.

At the Paris Motor Show, the Prologue Hybrid 4 concept car was presented with a 2.0 litre HDi FAP engine with a power of 163 bhp and an electric motor with a maximum capacity of 37 bhp providing a maximum torque of 300 Nm at the front and 200 Nm at the rear. Despite this performance, its fuel consumption in the combined cycle is only 4.1 litres / 100 km, with CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km!

This technology makes it possible to combine dynamic performance with respect for the environment, while at the same time maintaining the benefits of a spacious vehicle.

Another important benefit is that there are no mechanical connections between the front diesel engine and the rear electric motor, everything is controlled electronically "by-wire". This avoids any architectural constraints affecting the interior space and style of the passenger compartment.

The HYbrid 4 technology, which is still under development, was incorporated into the T84 programme from the very outset, since it is fully consistent with the approach adopted for the vehicle. In accordance with the announcement made at the Paris Motor show, the 3008 will be the Group's first vehicle to be equipped with Hybrid 4 technology. The commercial launch of this four wheel drive hybrid cross-over is planned between now and 2011.
